Startup Sphere Weekly #30

A niche content business selling for $200,000. PLUS: A consulting firm making $66,000/month.

Hey it’s Vlad,

Welcome back to Startup Sphere, a 5-minute weekly digest about online businesses selling for life-changing amounts of money.

This is edition #30 of the Startup Sphere weekly newsletter. Thank you for reading and being a subscriber. I’ve learned so much about business and I hope you have too. Onward and upward!

Here is this week’s rundown ⤵️

Weekly Rundown

Gardening content business

Asking Price: $200,000
TTM Revenue: $98,000
TTM Profit: $71,000

It seems like gardening has been gaining popularity in recent years. I know multiple people who are starting gardening as a hobby.

The business for sale is a website that teaches users how to start and grow a garden. The content covers a range of topics, from fruits and vegetables to mushrooms to chickens.

The business mostly drives traffic through Pinterest, email marketing, and non-Google search engines. I think Pinterest is a very underrated marketing channel, and has the perfect audience for this type of business.

The business mainly monetized through ad placements and affiliate links. I also think there is an opportunity to open and integrate an e-commerce store within the current website. That way you don’t have to rely on slim affiliate marketing margins and inconsistent ad revenue.

Epic Gardening is an example of a competitor. Epic Gardening has an extremely strong social media presence, so there is definitely an audience for this type of content.

Fitness streaming SaaS

Asking Price: $249,000
TTM Revenue: $83,000
TTM Profit: $135,000

Fitness is always a profitable niche, and many large brands have been built in the space.

The business for sale is a fitness brand that offers a streaming membership.

What makes this listing special, is that the business comes with the associated social channels, which have millions of followers. This gives the new owner a good starting point for marketing and can help bolster other marketing efforts.

I think this approach is a great way to build a business. Enter an existing niche, build an audience, and offer a software-based product. This way you own the distribution and have high margins because you are selling software.

The business has been around for 6 years and has over 1,000 paying users.

Salesforce consulting firm

Asking Price: $1,200,000
TTM Revenue: $796,000
TTM Profit: $280,465

Many successful businesses have been built on top of other platforms, and this is a great example.

The business for sale is a Salesforce consulting agency. They offer businesses that use Salesforce consulting, administration, and development services.

The business was established in 2013 and now has multiple long-term clients like banks and national organizations.

I like businesses like this because you know where your target audience spends time (in this case Salesforce). You can use a tool like Wappalyzer and find companies that already use Salesforce. Then you can simply reach out via cold email and offer your services.

I like this business because it has a strong, established track record, multiple clients, and a large potential customer base.
