Startup Sphere Weekly #41

A CRM for real estate making 390,000/year. Also: A Shopify app selling for $600,000.

Hey it’s Vlad,

welcome back to Startup Sphere, a 5-minute weekly digest about online businesses selling for life-changing amounts of money.

Sorry for the late newsletter send, I’ve been busy over the past week.

I am still working on my business market research tool. Currently, the database has over 15,000 services from Fiverr - all of which are profitable and market-tested business ideas.

Sorry for the wait, but I want to launch a product that will actually help its users.

If you want early access, plus a 50% discount, you can preorder the database here: https://book.stripe.com/28odTEfED3xHclGcMO

Without any further ado, let’s get into this week’s business listings ⤵️

Weekly Rundown

Marketing SaaS for summer camps

Asking Price: $79,000
TTM Revenue: $26,000
TTM Profit: $23,000

I enjoy coming across smaller software businesses that are solving problems in very specific niches.

This SaaS is an example of that, offering a marketing platform for summer camps. I’m not sure if people go to summer camps anymore but I think it’s a pretty cool concept.

The business focuses specifically on automating referral programs.

The market for summer camps in the US isn’t huge, with around 12,000 summer camps in the United States. I guess if you can onboard and retain all of them that can be lucrative.

I think the bigger opportunity is around expanding the software and tweaking it to fit the needs of other businesses. For example, day cares, tutoring services, etc.

Each software can be run as its own company, but it would be a variation on the original, just tweaked specifically to the needs of the business in each industry.

Real estate CRM software

Asking Price: $288,000
TTM Revenue: $390,000
TTM Profit: $247,000

Here’s another example of a SaaS automating an existing industry, in this case, real estate.

The business for sale is a CRM for realtors, helping them build and maintain relationships with past, current, and future clients.

The company has been around since 2019, so it has a strong track record. It mainly serves realtors in the Canadian market. I would love to see if this software can be used in the US market as well.

Something to note is that revenue has slowly been going down. I assume this is because of a lack of effort and focus from the current owner, but this is still something worth asking about.

Shopify app for generating shoppable videos

Asking Price: $600,000
TTM Revenue: $300,000
TTM Profit: $62,000

UGC is an extremely powerful and popular ad format, and this Shopify app helps capitalize on it.

The business for sale is a Shopify SaaS that lets e-commerce stores add “shoppable” videos to their website. This allows customers to discover and shop for products through videos.

This business is part of the larger general trend of video, specifically short form. Most social media platforms, and the internet as a whole, have adopted the short-form video format, and it is now the main format for some platforms.

This business leans into that trend and allows e-commerce stores to capitalize on it. I think short-form video is here to stay, making this business an attractive acquisition.

Competitors include Videowise and Tolstoy.
