Startup Sphere Weekly #57

An algorithmic trading software selling for $194,000. Plus, a tool for Amazon resellers making $5,600/month.

Hey it’s Vlad - welcome back to Startup Sphere.

For this week, I put together a list of a couple of “suspect” business ventures. This is not to say that these businesses are scams, but they operate in niches that are often attributed to scams.

I thought it would be interesting to take a look at these, and you can let me know if they’re legit business ventures, or if you’d avoid them all together.

Let’s get into it ⤵️

Weekly Rundown

Solana wallet analytics software

Asking Price: $60,000
TTM Revenue: $30,000
TTM Profit: $30,000

This is an interesting idea, and I’ve always wondered if it works. The business is a tool that tracks Solana wallets to help users copy crypto trades.

The company was founded in October 2024, so it’s less than a year old. To be honest, I thought the crypto wave was over, but this business shows some promise, so the niche is still active.

My main concern with this business is if it actually works. If you copy trades, you are getting in after the main activity is happening, so I don’t think you’d be profiting much on your trades.

GMGN is an example of a competitor.

Algorithmic trading software

Asking Price: $194,000
TTM Revenue: $72,000
TTM Profit: $66,000

I’ve featured a couple of these businesses, but I am never entirely sold on them. It always feels like they are making a promise they can’t actually deliver on. Realistically, there are companies out there dedicated to beating the market. So you’d have to beat them out. But I digress.

The business for sale is an algorithmic trading software. Simply put, they perform technical analysis and give users signals on when to trade.

The company has strong financials and profit margins. There seems to be a bit of up and down in the month-to-month revenue, but I assume that is because the website isn’t as actively maintained.

This specific tool comes as a sale from a larger portfolio. It would be interesting to see what other software/services are offered in that portfolio, and potentially build out something similar using this existing customer base as a beachhead audience.

Suite of tools for Amazon resellers

Asking Price: $215,000
TTM Revenue: $68,000
TTM Profit: $46,000

The business for sale is an all-in-one suite of tools to help Amazon resellers maximize profits. They offer a variety of tools like automatic price adjustment, supply monitoring, etc.

What I like about this business is that it has a clear value proposition and target customer.

At $68,000 ARR and just 52 customers, the business charges over $100 per month per customer. I think this puts it in a really nice spot price-wise, especially when dealing with a B2B business.

Would you acquire the "suite of tools for Amazon resellers" business? Or build it yourself?
